Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Magipaper Limited (“Magipaper”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use our websites, the Magipaper mobile applications for iOS and Android (the “App”), and related services (together, the “Services”).
Contact: contact@magipaper.com
2. Our privacy principles
- Local-first. Reading content you save in the App is stored on your device by default. We do not require an account to use the App.
- Minimal data. When we process information on our servers, we aim to collect only what is needed to operate and improve the Services.
- No sale of personal data. We do not sell your personal information.
3. Information we process
3.1 Information stored on your device
When you use the App, content and preferences are typically stored locally on your device, including:
- Links, titles, article content, images, and reading progress you choose to save
- App settings such as language, appearance, typography, and reading preferences
- Exported files you create (for example EPUB files), until you share, move, or delete them
We do not have access to this on-device library unless you voluntarily send it to us (for example as part of a support request).
3.2 Information sent to our servers
The App may contact our servers to check for updates. A version check request may include:
- Platform (iOS or Android)
- App version and build number
- Distribution channel
- An anonymous identifier generated on your device (not your name or email)
This information helps us provide update notices and maintain compatibility. We may retain related request logs for a limited period for operations, security, and abuse prevention.
3.3 Information you provide directly
If you email us or submit feedback, we receive the contact details and message content you choose to share, and use them only to respond and improve the Services.
3.4 Website information
Our company website is primarily static. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically process technical logs such as IP address, browser type, request time, and pages visited, for security, reliability, and basic traffic measurement.
3.5 Permissions on your device
Depending on features you use and your operating system, the App may request access to capabilities such as network connectivity, clipboard content (for optional paste/add-link helpers), file sharing/export, and photo library write access when you choose to save images. System permission prompts explain the relevant use at the time of request.
4. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Services
- Deliver version updates and compatibility notices
- Respond to inquiries and support requests
- Protect against abuse and ensure service security
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
5. How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information with:
- Service providers that help us operate the Services (for example cloud hosting and infrastructure providers such as Cloudflare), under contractual obligations to process data only on our instructions
- App distribution platforms (Apple App Store / Google Play), which process information under their own privacy policies when you download or update the App
- Authorities or advisors when required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public
When the App fetches a webpage you ask it to save, that request goes to the third-party website you chose. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
6. Data retention
- On-device library data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App
- Version-check and operational logs are retained only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above
- Support emails are retained as needed to handle your request and maintain business records
7. Where information is processed
Our service providers may process information in more than one country. Where that happens, we take steps appropriate to the nature of the data and applicable law.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information we process. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Request access to personal information we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Because much App data stays on your device, the most direct way to delete your library is to remove items in the App or uninstall the App. For requests about information we hold on our servers, email contact@magipaper.com.
11. Third-party links and content
The Services may display or help you save content from third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Please review their policies before interacting with their services.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the App or on our website.
13. Contact us
For privacy questions or requests, contact Magipaper Limited at contact@magipaper.com.
